Dog-Friendly Family Home

TraBothan is a chalet bungalow on a quiet cul-de-sac in the middle of Portballintrae, a small bay village between the Giant's Causeway and Portrush. It's a proper family house rather than a styled one: warm, well stocked and easy to live in for a week, with a real fire, a big garden and room to park everyone. WHO IT SUITS Families first, including the dog, and grandparents visiting family nearby. It also works for a small golf group, with Royal Portrush ten minutes by car and Bushmills Distillery five. DOWNSTAIRS The living room has the open fire, a corner of sofas and the TV. The kitchen has a farmhouse table for breakfast, and the separate dining room seats six with French doors onto the patio and the garden. Also downstairs: Bedroom 3 with a double bed, and the main bathroom with a full bath, a separate walk-in shower, basin and toilet. UPSTAIRS Bedroom 2: king bed under the eaves, with its own en-suite shower room. Bedroom 1: twin room with two single beds, a skylight and its own TV. A hairdryer is in each bedroom. Towels, bed linen and toilet paper are provided. KITCHEN Oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and a full set of cookware, crockery and wine glasses, plus the washing machine. There's a rack of local guides and maps on the kitchen wall. OUTSIDE The back garden is lawned and backs onto open fields, with a patio, an outdoor table and chairs, and a bench at the top of the garden for the evening light. The gravel driveway takes three cars. The beach at Salmon Rock is a ten-minute walk, and the village pub is closer. THE DOG One well-behaved, house-trained dog is welcome at no extra charge. We ask that dogs stay out of the bedrooms and off the beds, and that they're not left alone in the house. ARRIVING Self check-in by lockbox from 3pm, so arrive whenever suits after that.
